ITRPV and a View on the Module Format Rally

Free Webinar

Tuesday, July 13, 2021 | 11am–12.30pm CEST | Webinar Language: English

The results of the 12th edition of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaic (ITRPV) will be presented and discussed. The continued roll out of PERC cell technology, and the use of larger wafers and the implementation of half-cell module technology enabled higher performing module products in 2020 with at the same time ongoing reduction of PV system costs. Besides the ITRPV results, we will have presentations of cell and module manufacturers showing their thought on this format rally.

The webinar includes three expert presentations

  • "ITRPV 12th edition – trends in technologies, formats, products and an update on Hanwha Q Cells"
  • "Local European manufacturing within an integrated fab approach - Greenland Gigafactory" by Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE)
  • Presentation by Enel Green Power S.p.A., title to be announced shortly

Moderator

Dr. Jutta Trube, Division Manager of Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), Sector Group Photovoltaic Equipment

Dr. Jutta Trube works as Division Manager of VDMA Sector Group Photovoltaic Equipment since December 2015 and is engaged especially in production equipment for the solar cell and module production. She is responsible for the yearly updates and publication of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaic (ITRPV). Furthermore, she is working as a Vice Managing Director of VDMA Sector Association Electronics, Micro and New Energy Production Technologies.

Speakers

Dr Jochen Rentsch, Head of Department "Production technology – Surfaces and Interfaces", Fraunhofer ISE

Dr. Rentsch received his Ph.D degree in physics in 2005 from the Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, Germany. He studied physics at the
Technical University of Braunschweig and obtained his diploma degree in 2002. Dr. Rentsch is member of various Scientific and Programme committee boards (e.g. EUPVSEC, UCPSS, EUROSOLAR Russia, IRSEC). His current work focusses on the acquisition and management of public and industrial funded projects, the publication and licensing of R&D results, the transfer of processes and cell structures in the PV industry as well as consultancy on and auditing of PV manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Within his department of about 70 people, Dr. Rentsch is responsible for its strategic development and management as well as the supervision of PhD, master and bachelor theses. In 2006, Dr. Rentsch set up a platform for seminar courses related to crystalline silicon PV topics (Website: www.pv-training.org ) offering in-house as well as open seminars covering Basics of cSi PV, production technologies, metrology as well as specialised seminars focussing on particular topics of interest (wet chemistries, passivation, ...)

Markus Fischer, Vice President R&D Operation, Hanwha Q Cells GmbH

He has more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor and crystalline Silicon PV industry. He joined Q Cells in 2007 after working in different engineering and management positions with Siemens, Infineon, Philips, and NXP. As Vice President R&D Operation, he is responsible for the support of Q Cells cell technology development activities as well as for implementation of new process technologies and new production equipment for current and future c-Si solar cell concepts at Hanwha Q Cells production sites. Since 2010, Dr. Fischer is co-chairman of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaic (ITRPV). Besides masterminding the publication of the ITRPV annual reports, he has been spreading the ITRPV results at international conferences, workshops, and webinars for many years.

Dr. Fischer studied solid-state physics at the Dresden University of Technology and received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1997 from the University of Stuttgart.
