Electrify Now: End-Use Sector Coupling as a Decarbonization Speedway

Wednesday, June 14, 2023, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

ICM München Room 13 A

In this session, we aim to discuss the success factors for end-user sector coupling as a meaningful and cost-efficient way of meeting the EU's decarbonization ambitions, playing a viable role in supporting large-scale integration of decarbonized energy into our power systems. The panel will look at what steps we can take to ensure that end-user sectors (mobility, heating and industry) become a conduit for a resilient energy system and a sustainable Europe. This discussion will be formulated as a cross-sector debate to identify the operational challenges and business opportunities that the integration of efficient end-user sectors offer for grid stability and decarbonization.

Global & European Decarbonization Strategies: Discussing the Long-Term Role of Solar Power

Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 11:30 am - 01:00 pm

ICM München Room 14 B

With solar power having added more capacity than all other power generation technologies combined in recent years, governments around the world have been increasingly putting solar at the heart of their decarbonization strategies. Next to China, the European Union probably has the most ambitious PV targets. Through its first Solar Strategy, the European Commission has defined targets for solar capacity growth of around 50 percent to 400 GWac (500 GWdc) until 2025, and another 50 percent by 2030.This session will cover: Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2023-2027 (report launch) The role of solar power in global and European decarbonization policies Policies and business strategies for the rapid deployment of extensive solar capacities

Hybrid PV Power Plants - Strategies of Companies Procuring 100% Renewable Energy at the Time of Use

Wednesday, June 14, 2023, 02:00 pm - 03:30 pm

ICM München Room 14 A

As some large companies have already achieved a 100 percent renewable energy supply - and many will do so soon − this is mostly achieved via virtual power purchase agreements (PPAs). The next big thing could be 24/7 RES coverage, meaning that all green power needed is procured at the time of consumption. This session will provide: Case studies for real-time renewable power production and consumption 24/7 Executive panel discussing the potential of 24/7 RES supply
