Saxony – The Land of Hydrogen: Moving Towards a Sustainable Future

The smarter E Podcast Episode 157 | November 16, 2023 | Language: German

How well volatile solar and wind energy can be stored and distributed plays a decisive role in the energy transition. Alongside batteries, hydropower plants and thermal storage systems, green hydrogen is seen as a beacon of hope. But does it even work in practice? What does it require? And how far have developments progressed so far? Is it really a fuel of the future or a living reality? In this episode, we talk about this with several experts from the region of Saxony, one of the pioneers in the hydrogen sector.

Timeline:

  • 5:55 What challenges have been encountered in integrating hydrogen into Saxony's existing energy infrastructure?
  • 13:05 What does the current hydrogen infrastructure in Saxony look like and where will the green hydrogen come from?
  • 17:06 How much hydrogen is already being produced or used? How is the market ramp-up progressing?
  • 29:19 How can Saxony create new jobs and strengthen the local economy through hydrogen technology?
