Important impulses for the promotion of this energy carrier are now being provided by the "Green Hydrogen Manifesto", which was most recently presented as part of The smarter E Europe Restart 2021. The initiators Hydrogen Europe, the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association DWV, the European Electrolyzer & Fuel Cell Forum EFCF and The smarter E Europe want to send a clear signal for decarbonization and a sustainable circular economy. Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of the European association Hydrogen Europe, reveals what concrete demands are being made of policymakers and what economic and political opportunities green hydrogen offers.

Before he was Representative of Infineon Technologies in Brussels and Member of the European Parliament (2004 – 2014) inter alia in the ITRE Committee (Industry, Technology, Research and Energy) where he could contribute to lay the cornerstone for the first and the second Joint Undertaking on hydrogen and fuel cells. In 2007 he was elected “MEP of the year” by his colleagues of the European Parliament in the category “Research and Innovation”.

Three triumphant exhibition days and two days full of inspiring conference sessions marked a real success for Europe’s largest platform for the energy industry: 1,356 exhibitors from 46 countries presenting their solutions on 132,000 square meters. More than 65,000 visitors from 149 countries exceeded expectations for this year’s The smarter E Europe – an increase of 33 percent compared to the last regular event in 2019.
