Sharing responsibility: How you can do your bit as an exhibitor

Every single exhibitor can help make our event more sustainable. Here are some simple yet effective measures you can take to create a more environment-friendly and resource-conserving exhibition.

Booth construction

Design your booth to be sustainable by using reusable components and energy-efficient devices. We are here to support you via partners that develop sustainable solutions for your exhibition booth.

meplan GmbH

As an agency specializing in branded spaces and exhibition booths, meplan adopts a prudent, forward-thinking approach using creative resources and drawing on the skills of a large partner network. Sustainability underpins meplan’s entire end-to-end process – from sourcing and using energy from our Munich venue, to the way exhibition booths are designed, the materials and production methods used, and the commitment to reusability.

woodï booth system

meplan’s woodï booth system consists of reusable modules made from locally sourced and processed wood. This not only reduces demands on resources, but also keeps transport distances – and the associated carbon emissions – to a minimum. By using furniture, decor and lighting products sourced from select partners who are committed to the circular economy, it is possible to design a fully sustainable exhibition booth.

Communication and advertising material

Take advantage of digital communication and minimize the use of printed materials. Avoid single-use items as giveaways and offer sustainable, reusable products instead. To avoid printing your tickets on paper, you can save them onto your mobile device and scan them at the entrance.

Remember to return your exhibition lanyards to the boxes at the exits after the event. We will take care of their sustainable disposal.

Procurement

Choose certified, environment-friendly products and consider the origin of the materials and the conditions under which they were made.

Waste management

Avoid packaging wherever possible and separate waste by category.

Your booth rental fee includes a lump sum for waste disposal, which covers small amounts of waste produced during set-up and the exhibition itself. The booth rental fee does not include the disposal of wall and booth elements, complete exhibition booths, floor coverings, decking or exhibits (PV modules, etc.). This would have to be preordered via the Technical Exhibition Services ( tas2@messe-muenchen.de ) and is subject to a separate fee. Once dismantled, please label and sort any objects or materials for preordered waste collection and leave them at your booth space.

Please consult Guide to avoiding waste the for assistance.

Staff

Make sure your staff are provided with fair working conditions, with appropriate wages, adherence to maximum working hours and sufficient breaks.

Catering

Choose reusable bottles and dishes, offer regional, seasonal and vegetarian meals, and avoid food waste. Our catering partners are happy to advise you on sustainable options. Our forums and trade press booths also have water fountains where you can refill your own bottle free of charge.

Logistics & transport

Work with regional partners where possible and avoid unnecessary transport. Use reusable and environment-friendly packaging to protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions.

Travel services and accommodation

Use the event ticket offered by the rail company Deutsche Bahn for a comfortable journey to Munich. This reduces the use of private transportation.

Once in Munich, it is best to use public transportation to get around. The exhibition grounds are easy to reach via the subway stations Messestadt West and Messestadt Ost on line U2.

E-vehicles can be charged conveniently and free of charge at the exhibition grounds, using green electricity generated by the on-site photovoltaic system. Parking deck West has 80 charging points and several others are distributed across the exhibition grounds.

Staying at nearby hotels means you can spend less time traveling during the exhibition. The following hotels are located in the immediate vicinity of Messe München:
