Smart Combined – Future Technologies in the E-Craft Sector

The smarter E Podcast Episode 176 | May 23, 2024 | Language: German

The e-trade is tapping into new potential in the residential segment. The reason for this is the combination of PV systems, storage systems, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and heat pumps that is increasingly being used there. Around two thirds of all PV rooftop systems installed in Germany in 2023 were attributable to e-craft businesses.

These companies were also involved in the implementation of more than half of all storage systems. Increasing sector coupling is turning e-craft businesses into energy transition experts - we asked Alexander Neuhäuser, Managing Director of the German Electrical and Information Technology Trades Association (ZVEH), where we currently stand.

Timeline:

  • 04:37 Photovoltaics, storage, charging infrastructure and heat pumps are booming in the electrical trade. How has your industry made the transition to renewable technologies?
  • 07:11 How is the electrical trade acquiring the technical know-how to keep up with the industry? Is there a need for training?
  • 10:13 What changes does the industry expect for the electrical trade with the recently adopted Solar Package I?
  • 13:08 To what extent does the electrical trade cooperate with other trades, such as plumbing, heating and air conditioning (HVAC), to implement holistic energy solutions?
  • 16:35 What challenges does the increasing integration of generation, storage and consumption in the home system pose for the electrical trade?
