User Success Stories and Best Cases: What We Can Learn From the Norwegian Case, and What Norway Can Learn From Others

Paul Pschierer-Barnfather is the EV Charging Solutions Expert for Zaptec, a Norwegian chargepoint manufacturer. With 30 years of experience in the electricity industry, he currently leads Zaptec's vehicle-to-grid development programme, and is also Acting Chair of the BEAMA Electric Transport Systems Technical Committee. 

Ståle Frydenlund is a Senior Advisor / Test Manager at the Norwegian EV Association, and one of the longest serving members of the staff. Since 2013 he has developed a high level of expertise within most aspects of the transition to electric carswhen it comes to cars, charging and tech in general.

Christopher Thompson is Head of Product & Portfolio Marketing at ABB E-Mobility, where he focuses on making charging, charging infrastructure work seamlessly for businesses and drivers alike. With a deep understanding of customer needs, he helps shape solutions that make high-power charging not just technically advanced but also practical, reliable, and easy to use.

Marte holds the position as Business Development Manager in Hydrovolt, a leading EV battery recycling and raw materials company operating one of Europe's largest and most sustainable recycling plants in Fredrikstad, Norway. At Hydrovolt, Marte is responsible for developing new business concepts and partnerships related to sourcing of materials that need recycling. Marte has a background from Hydro, Hydrovolt's mother company. At Hydro she gained extensive insight into the entire battery value chain, through market analysis and various investment projects. Before joining Hydro, she worked as a management consultant, focusing on the development of new services and products.She holds an MSc degree in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from NTNU, Norway.

Alexandra is a specialist on the behavior, attitudes, and experiences of EV drivers. She is responsible for both administration, analysis and presentation of the Norwegian EV Association's EV driver survey, as well as the Global EV Driver Survey. Other areas of expertise include statistics on EV sales, charging infrastructure, as well as the climatic and environmental impact of transportation.Alexandra has a master's degree in Economics from the University of Oslo, with her thesis focusing on road pricing. 

Nassir Farooq has a background as an automotive technician, completing his trade certificate in 2007. He started his career working with Audi at Møller Bil Skøyen, before continuing with technical work on military vehicles (CV90 and M113) in Northern Norway. In 2012-2013, he started his own workshop, which later grew into a Bosch Car Service workshop in Oslo - at the time one of the cleanest and most modern Bosch workshops in the city.Early on, he saw the shift towards electric vehicles and specialized in EVs, particularly Tesla. After gaining attention through hands-on work and exposure (including a visit from Bjorn Nyland), he experienced strong growth in demand for EV diagnostics and high-voltage repairs. Over time, he transitioned the majority of the customer base from fossil vehicles to 80-90% electric vehicles.This led to the development of a structured EV inspection system, including a 130-point health check for electric and hybrid vehicles, with documentation of condition, repair cost before/after, and CO₂ savings.Based on this experience, he founded EV HUB in 2022. Today, EV HUB supports workshops and markets across Europe with EV competence, certification, and standardized workflows - building an ecosystem to extend the lifecycle of electric vehicles to match the longevity he has historically seen in cars like the Volvo 240.
