Robby Peibst received his diploma degree in Technical Physics in 2005 from the Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany. In 2010 he received his Ph.D. (summa cum laude) from the Leibniz University of Hanover, Germany, on a microelectronic topic. Since 2010, he is with the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin, Germany. Since 2013, he is leading the "Emerging solar cell technologies research group. After focusing on enabling techniques for high efficient Si solar cells such as passivating poly-Si on oxide (POLO) contacts, his research interest is now shifting towards the specific adaption of Si solar cells for special applications such as vehicle integrated PV (VIPV). In this context, he is currently coordinating a public-funded research project with eight partners from the photovoltaic and automotive field which targets the demonstration of viability of Si-based VIPV for electrically powered utility vehicles.
