Pieter leads the commercial activities for both businesses. At HyET Solar, his focus is on setting up strategic partnerships with companies in the solar supply chain, including:
Utility scale (land and floating) solar developers
Building (material) companies
Pieter has a background in operational and commercial roles in a broad range of energy technologies including steam, fuel cells, gas turbines, wind turbines and coal. He started his career working for Hoogovens Steel (now part of Tata Steel) as process engineer, sales manager and project manager in South Africa, the Netherlands and the USA. He then joined General Electric in the executive Commercial Leadership Program (eCLP) were, among others, he attained Six Sigma Black Belt certification. In his final role at GE, he was responsible for aero-derivative gas turbine maintenance in Europe, Asia and later, Africa. He then moved on to fuel cell manufacturer Nedstack B.V. in the Netherlands. He has lived and worked in South Africa, Germany, the USA, France and Sweden.
Pieter obtained his MSc in Applied Physics from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and holds an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.
