In 2020, Dr. Stephan Schindele joined BayWa r.e. AG as Head of Product Management Agri-PV. In this function, he expanded the Agri-PV product portfolio from just one Agri-PV application (Fruit-PV) in 2020 to a total of five Agri-PV specifications: Fruit-PV, Crop-PV, Hay-PV, Grazing-PV, and Cow-PV. Thanks to his support, the global Agri-PV project pipeline grew from 50 MWp in 2020 to nearly 3,000 MWp across nine different countries by 2026.
Before joining BayWa r.e., Stephan worked at Fraunhofer ISE where he built up the new business field of Agri-PV (2010-2020), wrote numerous publications and finished his PhD on the topic of Sustainable Land Use and Agri-PV (2023). Stephan received several awards for his work on Agri-PV. Furthermore, he was Vice Chair for the Land-use and Permitting workstream at SolarPowerEurope (2022-2024), taught Energy & Climate Policy at Reutlingen University (2015-2020), worked as Site Event & Exhibit Assistant for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC, 2009 & 2011) and was an Intern for the German Solar Industry Association BSW-Solar (2008).
He holds an MBA from the California State University East Bay (2011).
