Katja is an expert in renewable energy finance. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Southampton in International Political Economy and a bachelor’s degree in Banking from the Berlin School of Economics and Law.
From 2008 to 2012, Katja worked in different positions and departments of KfW including as a loan officer in training for loans for financing renewable energy projects and as a portfolio manager for energy credit lines. In 2013, she joined the Department of Financial Systems Development at one of the leading European consulting firms specialized in development cooperation as a RE finance consultant.
Since 2016, Katja is working in GIZ’s energy project in Madagascar as an advisor for renewable energies. She supported project developers on financial modelling and structuring as well as local investors on analyzing energy projects , thus gaining significant insights into the main challenges of financing rural electrification projects. Katja is currently managing the subproject “legal framework and transparency”, which includes supporting the Malagasy government in the reconstruction of the national sustainable energy fund by creating a financial institution dedicated to financing renewable energy projects in rural Madagascar.
