GHG Quota: Cash Bonus for E-Car Owners

Industry News – Tuesday, February 22, 2022

Protecting the climate and being rewarded in cash - this is a double benefit that owners of electric vehicles can look forward to starting this year. This is made possible by the greenhouse gas reduction quota (GHG quota). With this quota, the German government is providing concrete incentives for more climate protection in the transport sector.

The GHG quota obliges companies that pollute the climate to partially offset their carbon footprint by purchasing green charging power for e-mobility. Previously, the quota was owned by electricity suppliers, but that changed in 2022. As of this year, the quota belongs to all those players who have switched to climate-friendly solutions in transport. This includes e-mobilists.

In order to secure the premium of €250-480 per year, one turns with the registration papers of one's vehicle to one of the quota dealers that are numerous on the market. You can find out which providers there are and what level of premium you can look forward to in each case at Power2Drive Europe from May 11-13, 2022.
