EM-Power Europe to Broaden its Focus Starting in 2021

Press Release – Tuesday, June 9, 2020

Munich/Pforzheim, June 9, 2020: For the past two decades, Germany’s energy landscape has been undergoing a radical transformation. The government has agreed to eliminate the use of nuclear power, and phasing out coal is also within reach. Plans to shut down power plants that can supply baseload power are spurring discussions about supply security and a looming electricity shortfall. A massive expansion of photovoltaics (PV) and energy storage capacity is an important part of the solution, as has been confirmed by recent forecasts by EuPD Research published in the study Energy Transition in the Context of the Nuclear and Coal Phase-out – Prospects in the Electricity Market Through 2040. An energy infrastructure must also be developed to meet the demands of the new energy world. The reorganized EM-Power Europe in Munich will be offering concrete solutions to make this possible. The established international exhibition is expanding its focus, and from June 9 to 11, 2021, it will shine a spotlight on the topics of energy management and integrated energy solutions as part of The smarter E Europe, Europe’s largest platform for the energy industry. But The smarter E Europe also has plenty of digital events and services on offer in 2020.

Decentralization and digitalization are bringing lasting changes to the modern energy world. Starting in 2021, EM-Power Europe will broaden its focus, making it the international hub for those looking to take the next steps on the way to the new energy world. After all, working with all technologies and stakeholders to improve sector coupling is a necessary element of the future energy supply.

Intelligently connected concepts and solutions are shaping the new energy world

In addition to expanding renewable energies, energy storage and Power-to-X applications, a connected energy infrastructure is needed that can meet the challenges of the new energy world. These include integrating a large number of prosumers – i.e. market players that both produce and consume electricity – and managing large volumes of data as well as volatile and seasonal energy from renewable sources. To ensure a functional energy supply, cross-sector and intelligently linked concepts and solutions will be needed. This is where the reorganized EM-Power Europe comes in. From market leaders to start-ups, you’ll find all of the companies competing to shape the new energy world represented here with their innovative products and integrated energy solutions.

A logical extension of the topics covered at EM-Power Europe

Starting in 2021, smart grids and the integration of renewable energies, grid infrastructure and system services will be incorporated into the reorganized EM-Power Europe. Previous topics such as decentralized and renewable energy supply, smart building automation, energy management systems within microgrids, districts and buildings as well as commercial and industrial energy services will remain an important part of the exhibition. The accompanying program will also be adjusted to reflect the additional content and will include the parallel EM-Power Europe Conference and EM-Power Forum.

EM-Power Europe is geared toward professional energy customers and prosumers working in the commercial, industrial and real estate sectors as well as energy managers, planners and consultants, public and private utility companies and municipalities. From 2021 onward, EM-Power Europe will be located in hall B5 between Intersolar Europe and Power2Drive Europe. This new layout positions the energy exhibition as both the spatial and thematic link between Intersolar Europe and Power2Drive Europe and even better reflects the variety of topics showcased at The smarter E Europe as well as the focus on sector coupling and intelligent networks.

EM-Power Europe presents content digitally in 2020

As part of the innovation hub The smarter E Europe, EM-Power Europe concentrates on sharing information on energy industry topics and providing a networking opportunity for global industry players. In support of this goal in 2020, we now offer a number of additional digital formats such as webinars and podcasts with industry experts. Proving that it is more than just an international exhibition and in-person event, EM-Power Europe has teamed up with smartEn to offer a webinar titled The (non-)financial Drivers and Benefits of Smart Energy Prosumer Models. The webinar will take a closer look at the prosumer models discussed in the study and highlight the factors that drive prosumers and the benefits these models bring to society as a whole. The webinar will take place on June 23, 2020 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. For further information, or to register, please visit the EM-Power website.

Held in conjunction with the three energy exhibitions Intersolar Europe, ees Europe and Power2Drive Europe, EM-Power Europe is the place to go for information and updates on the path to a sustainable and connected energy future across sectors. Together, these exhibitions present all the components of the new energy world – this year in a digital format.
