Techno-commercial power engineering expert with over 30 years of experience, initially with Fichtner Consulting Engineers advising multiple clients in Germany and worldwide. Since joining Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA), Dietmar is one of the driving commercial leaders in the power sector in the Middle East over the past 21 years. Dietmar is the architect of the 1998 Abu Dhabi IWPP template to incorporate desalinated water production in a Middle Eastern environment. The evaluation criteria and calculation of payment model that he developed has been duplicated by many other procuring authorities in the GCC. He had a leading role in all DOE/ADWEA/ADWECs I(W)PP projects. Most recently Dietmar has coled the competitive tender for Abu Dhabis Sweihan Solar PV project, where he has designed a bespoke tariff structure weighted for summer production to meet Abu Dhabis unique power demand curve. The Sweihan Solar PV Project achieved Financial Close in May 2017. Currently he is co-leading two competitive tenders, one for the 200 MIGD Taweelah RO desalination project (in awarding and financing stage) and the second large-scale PV project in Abu Dhabi, the 2,000 MW Solar PV2 project in Al Dhafra (in the stage of RFP preparation).
